Sept 12, 2011 Modyo Featured to the World

Between the 3rd and 8th of August in the city of  Hyderabad India, the 71st Congress of the  International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP)  together with UNESCO brought together the world’s leaders in pharmaceutical sciences.

The FIP Congress is the leading international event offering diverse learning opportunities for those active within all areas of pharmacy. The event brought over 2000 pharmaceutical, health and education leaders from more than 150 countries. The President of India, Pratibha Devisingh Patilopened the conference together with health ministers and senior executives. The President encouraged health leaders to continue to bridge the gap in medical education and sciences with the developing world.

For the past four years Modyo has been building a digital platform with important ramifications for education and universities in particular. Modyo partner and leader of Modyo’s European office, Rodrigo Menchaca presented the latest Modyo applications to the world at the FIP event in India. Leaders from 47 countries were present for Rodrigo Menchaca’s presentation where he showcased Modyo’s education application for web and mobile devices.

Modyo’s education application converts content into entertaining education simulations for multiple devices such as the IPAD. Teaching effectiveness improves when students are able to interact with content through simulations and multimedia content that test a person’s knowledge on the content in real time. In the case of health, academics with expertise in a particular disease such as diabetes can use Modyo’s education application to generate learning simulations related to medicines or the disease itself that can be distributed and customized based on the target audience. The capacity to convert content into “interactive simulations” aims to improve and raise the level of knowledge helping to bridge the gap with the developing world.

The initial reaction to Modyo’s new education solution was overwhelmingly positive. Health education leaders from Australia, Switzerland, Portugal, Germany, Singapore, the United States, Canada, Norway, Brazil and India scheduled meetings with their respective public and private institutions with Modyo.

As Rodrigo Menchaca states “World education leaders saw what’s possible with Modyo and they want to make those changes happen in the field of health education where thousands of well educated professionals will change the lives of millions.”

Mark Bonnell, CEO of Modyo states “Rodrigo’s work in North America and Europe combined with our top engineering talent is proving what’s possible in the field of education.”

Selected as one of Chile’s leading innovation companies in 2010, Modyo has continued to expand both geographically with offices in Sao Paulo and Barcelona as well as in specific niche application segments for its core technology. Aurus, Chile’s leading Venture Capital company with the support of the Government of Chile as well as leading entrepreneurs in South America and North America have all provided financial support for Modyo’s sustained growth.
